Hello all in this Morning Sun Google Group,
I spend a lot of time far away from Morning Sun (right now I am doing
service work in the Virgin Islands) but I want to keep, and to
expand, my connection to the community. This group looks like a
wonderful way to do this, at least in one respect. I hope we can begin
some conversations here...

my hope is to travel to Morning Sun to spend a little time early this
spring before my work picks up. I am exploring some level of residency
and ongoing involvement. My hope for now is to spend some extended
periods (one or more weeks or months) at MS in the next year.

I would love to hear what's happening on the ground at MS in terms of
forming a residential community-lands development, who is there, who
is coming to live soon, etc.
Peace to all,
Aleta

Hi Aleta,
Hi everyone,

It's a beautiful day here at Morning Sun. Spring seems to be coming early. We had our first maple syrup making of the season yesterday as part of the Day of Mindfulness. The children's program built a fire and made tea out of maple sap and evergreen tips. The adults had a walking meditation up to the fire and then we all enjoyed the tea together in silence. The we all emptied the sap buckets into a large pan over a big wood fire and evaporated about 30 gallons down to almost a gallon of syrup.

Michael and Fern moved into their house just before Thanksgiving, and my wife Annie and I moved into the apartment above Michael's mom's house where they had been staying. John Young, another former monastic, lives just up the road from us and practices with us regularly.

We are actively in the process of setting up our retreat schedule for the year and finishing work on the permitting process. We will be hosting a Spring Family Retreat April 20-22 at a nearby Waldorf farm. We also plan to host a regional retreat for adults May 10-13, a summer camp, and a family retreat in October.

Thanks to some generous investors, we have enough money to complete the permitting process to allow us to build retreat facilities and to sell lots to new community members. We hope to submit all of our permits in March. Once the permits are approved, we will need to improve the road to town standards before actually building or selling anything. We still need investors for this part. Please email me to learn more.

Annie and I are hoping to purchase a lot and build our own home as soon as possible, which means as soon as the road is finished.

We are also talking with the owners of the former site of Maple Forest Monastery about being able to use those facilities until our are constructed.

For those on Facebook, you can 'friend' MorningSun PracticeCenter. If anyone is not on the announcement email list, you can sign up on the website www.morningsuncommunity.org

I would love to hear from others about their hopes and intentions.
love and light,
ambrose

Hello Aleta, Ambrose and all Friends on the Path:

I have been sharing the vision of MorningSun with those in my sangha here in Pittsburgh, using the attached document I created after visiting MS in January (hope this comes through). I am very excited about what is happening with MorningSun, and thank all who have brought it forth thus far. Please feel free to use this document if you'd like.

I am investigating the various self-directed IRA possibilities, and am planning to bring funds to the roads effort very soon. Family has me very anchored here in Pittsburgh at this point, but our do share the energy arising in those New Hampshire woods.

May your day be well,

Hello everyone - I just want to chime in as a voice from the
wilderness and add my blessings, hope and faith that is born of
knowing. I'm not a facebook person so I am thankful for this format to
stay connected. I am breathing and stepping and warming by the light
that is MorningSun. Michael Walden Hartland, Vermont
