threewide is willing to sponsor a speaker (within a certain budget), but we have lots of other topics that could be useful in the meantime.

so topics for the next meeting (month or so out) are welcome and heres just the type of thread to put it in.

current known list:

brian masney (3yd) - strace/ltrace
tom lahoda (3yd) - multi-touch screen | xen management
jp fielding - recovering bricked wrt's (still have one un recovered)
mdh - qemu

if someone non-3yd has a _really_ cool demo they'ld like to do, that requires a toy (usable by others after the demo), let us know and we'll see if mgmt will sponsor it.   no promises, but possible.

Not only that people would like to DO but what would people like to SEE?

I don't particularly have anything that I WANT to speak about, but I COULD speak about a variety of topics if there were people that wanted a presentation about something.

I also have two other topics that I could talk about if people are interested:

- A talk about adding LDAP support[1] to the ISC DHCP server. AFAIK,
this is the only implementation of a DHCP server that uses LDAP for
storing configuration. I could briefly go through the porting effort,
problems related to being the first project to implement a specific
draft RFC and finally show the DHCP server in action. This project is
now supported by several enterprise Linux distributions, including
Novel/Suse.

- A talk about how to setup PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) and
some neat things that you can do with it. The talk would include a few
examples of writing different types of PAM modules. If you're
interested, I have a PAM module out there [3] that sets up quotas for
new users.

I could do one of these 3 talks at the next meeting if there is
interest. Either strace/ltrace, LDAP DHCP server or PAM. Let me know
which one interests you.
