Hi all, just a quick update to say that Prima Donna has remained ashore this year due to family committments and work pressures. She will be sailing again in 2013 and I am now planning seriously for the proposed trip around the UK in 2014. You may recall I mentioned a little while ago I was thinking of doing this to celebrate 50 years since the MOrgan Giles 30 design came out of the yard at Teignmouth. I will also be seeking to raise awareness for the Macular Disease Society. My Father who sadly passed away in March this year suffered from severe age related macular degeneration during the last ten years of his life, it had a devastating impact on his quality of life and I did not realise just how common this condition is particularly in the elderly. I have opened a blog on the tumblr.com platform so you can follow progress there if you wish.

I plan to go clockwise and wouyld love to meet as many owners as I can along the way.

be in touch.

regards

Hi all,

Thanks for the update,  Santana was launched this summer at Rye after a winter refit. We moved the boat to the Hamble this summer and had a wonderful cruise to the Channel Islands in the summer break.
Moving her back to Rye this winter for another round of jobs.
Keep in touch and we'll see if we can meet in 2013,
regards Ty

Hi Ty...

Good to hear Santana has been to the Channel Islands again - her old stamping ground.  I guess she almost knew her own way there!

We have been almost four months in the Netherlands - lots of shallow waters, especially in the Waddenzee; not MG30 waters.  But we do remember her fondly.

best wishes
Tony & Ynskje
presently in Den Helder, Netherlands

Hi Paul, my boat is in Pembroke Dock and should be afloat next year. I actually live in Bedfordshire, and it would make much more sense to move her to the East or South coast, but the area is outstanding and gives loads of cruising options so this will compensate for the long journey. If all goes to plan we could possibly get together.

All the best

Ian

Hi Jan...

We didn' t get to the Grevelingenmeer on our meander up through Zeeland, although we did explore almost everywhere else.

On our way down outside in the North Sea I am minded to hole up for a night and await the tide just outside the dam between the Grevelingenmeer and the North Sea.  There is no way through the dam, but on the chart there is a vluchthaven Springersdiep.  Do you know it?  Would it provide a sheltered anchorage for the night?  I don't want to arrive there and find no suitable refuge with autumnal gales in the offing.

thanks
Tony

Good Morning Ian,
Yes, a wonderful plan and idea. My club and mooring is just above the first Severn Bridge just north of the M4 - which way do you drive from Beds to Milford?
A couple of our members also have 2 nd moorings at Sandy Haven including one of the presenters of the TV program Coast. So we do get over there quite a bit. You are spot on it is a wonderful cruising area with Lundy there for a day sail each way.
I have also had it in mind to hold Bristol Channel event on the lines of The Three Peaks - sailing version that is- but although we started planning last yer it is a tremendous amount of work.
All the best for now,
Paul.

Hi,
just a note to say that I plan to make Milford Haven a stopping point when I do my proposed trip around the uk in 2014 so hope it would be possible to meet up? Prima Donna was up at Usk Mouth when I purchased her and I had a memorable trip back to Falmouth where I kept her until my relocation back to Southampton in 2008.
