Hi all...

Following completion of the sale of my MG30 Santana, it is time to
hand over this eGroup and the MG30 web site to one or more persons
still actively involved with the class. Otherwise the sites will
ossify - they have already suffered from my energy being elsewhere.
So how about some volunteers?

The eGroup is a Google group and easily transferred to a new owner -
and there can be more than one person, for back-up and sharing of
responsibility. It is worth noting that the 'pages' feature of
Google groups has been discontinued and the existing pages are only
available until the end of August. There are some useful resources
there, which it would be a pity to lose.

The MG30 website was created using iWeb on an Apple Mac. It would
transfer simply only to another Apple Mac user, but the content could
be transferred to virtually any web authoring system, and I am willing
to support the new manager in such a transfer.

I have been very impressed with WordPress, which I use for my own
blogs now. If I were transferring the above, I would look at merging
both the eGroup and MG30 web site to WordPress. Being web-based, it
is independent of whichever computer you use and easily transferred to
another owner/manager when necessary.

I hope that one or more will take up this invitation.

regards and good sailing, Tony

I have had not a single response to my request for volunteers to take
over this eGroup and the MG30 web site. This is sad as it does seem
to serve a purpose and is widely referenced on MG30 matters.

I will leave it in place, but will not be putting any energy into
updating it.

Hi Tony,

As discussed via my off-line e-mail, I'd be happy to take over as site administrator from you. We can discuss meeting up to go over the final details soon.

Regards,

Gary

Hi MG30 owners...

Back in August 2011 and following my sale of Santana, I sought for someone to take over managing the MG30 web site and eGroup.  This is simply not happening, so I am appealing afresh for someone to take this on.  Meanwhile the site and the eGroup are languishing and collecting cobwebs.

See my original posting below for technical details.  Since then I have been using WordPress more and more and that would be my platform of choice, were I still involved.  Being web-based it is viable using any web-capable computer.  I would be happy to provide support to anyone moving the site in that direction.  In any event, I can assist by extracting the existing material from its present platform if you are not Mac-based.  There was a good group and following, and I just hope someone is willing to take it on.

In other news...  we are much enjoying our extended cruising. now possible.  Last season we were four months in the Netherlands.  In 2013 we plan to explore around Ireland, the Welsh coast and Isle of Man, then over-winter in NE England and tackle the Scottish Islands and coasts during 2014, returning south via the east coast.  I know there are several MG30s in the north - perhaps we will bump into each other (not literally, I hope:-).

best wishes, Tony
