An incredible  course is being offered in Cardston. It is about Understanding Government and Natural Laws (the Natural Laws portion - Based on teachings in a new book by Oliver Demille - We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident). The goal of the course is to help better inform people about the political systems and issues of our days and about ways to preserve our important freedoms. It is also intended to help people get motivated to be more informed in the issues of our day, so that we can have a voice in our political system.  The course which is being spearheaded by Marion Tone (Bill Peavoy's Mom) was also inspired by the February Ensign article - https://www.lds.org/ensign/2014/02/get-informed-get-involved?lang=eng 

 

The course will be on Friday nights and running from mid-March to early June. This course would be an ideal setting for couples (built in date nights) also I think it would be an excellent course for scholar-minded youth who could be inspired around this topic. The list of speakers is based on currently elected officials for our area and I think it is an incredible opportunity to hear from and interact with these leaders. See the attachment.

 

The course is $35 per household or $30 if you pre-register. With this you also get course materials including the book by Oliver Demille.

 

Our goal is to have 100 registrations (that's possibly 200 people).  This includes Cardston and other local communities. 

 

Here is my ask:

 

1. Please register yourselves for the course. E-mail me (or call me at 403-653-3220)  or Marion mario...@yahoo.com as soon as possible to pre-register and I will collect the $30 either before or on the day of the course.

 

2. Share this with all the people you know and on any distribution lists that you are currently on. Talk this up with as many people as you can. This will be a course where we will look around the room and wish our friends and family members were with us.

 

As I said before, I believe this is a great opportunity not only to learn but to be able to come together and talk about how we can unite and become a force for good to address the issues of our day.

 

We know it will be a sacrifice to attend this course and as Oliver DeMille has written "Freedom isn’t just about our rights, lack of restraints or having powers and privileges.  It is also about our duties, our responsibilities, the sacrifices necessary to remain a free people and the history of people paying the ultimate price for freedom. Freedom isn’t free. Not even close."
