Stolen Kids, Stolen Land: Close Heartland Alliance’s Concentration Camps

March to Shutdown Chicago’s Child Detention Centers

Join the Rogers Park and Little Village Solidarity Networks as we march to demand the closure of Heartland Alliance’s child detention centers and the immediate release of the children!

This Indigenous People’s Day weekend, we say “No Stolen Kids, No Stolen Land!” Just as the American Indian boarding schools once did, Heartland’s facilities are used to support a genocidal system, tear apart families, assimilate cultures, and strengthen illegitimate borders drawn across indigenous lands by colonialist states.

WHEN: Saturday October 12, (3:30 PM – 5:30 PM)

WHERE: 7348 N Paulina St. Chicago (Touhy Park, intersection of N. Paulina and W. Sherwin)

WHAT: March and action at two child detention facilities operated by Heartland Alliance in Roger's Park – locations of the centers: 1628 W Morse and 1620 W Chase. March starts at 4pm. 

This weekend people are organizing protests to close the Concentration Camps. Facilities run by Heartland Alliance and the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago are lock-ups where migrant children are detained and dehumanized to further an accelerating program of white supremacist genocide. These too are concentration camps. Even though they look harmless from the outside. Even though they are hidden in plain sight. 

Child detention is an instrument of state terror, and it is also big business. Thousands of children are trapped in the immigration industrial complex, where they are abused, neglected, and dehumanized for profit. For the vast majority of kids in their custody, Heartland has the power to reunite them with their families now, but instead they drag their feet, collecting revenue for each day each child is held in detention. Often, children are held until their 18th birthday, when—at the stroke of midnight—Heartland hands them over to ICE agents without warning. Heartland cooperates with ICE in other ways as well, conducting interrogations and collecting biometric data. When we fight back we win. After Heartland's detention centers came under public scrutiny over allegations of abuse and lax supervision, people got organized and Heartland closed four of its centers in suburban Chicago. Mobilizing our communities into robust solidarity networks, we can build the power necessary to dismantle the underlying systems at the root of these outrages, and work together to create a better world from the bottom up. Join us in the streets to demand:

Marcha para cerrar las cárceles de niñxs migrantes en Chicago

Niños son secuestrados por Heartland Alliance y la Arquidiócesis Católica. 

Únase a las redes de solidaridad de Rogers Park y La Villita este sábado 12 de Octubre a las empezando alas 3:30 p.m. en el parque Touhy en Rogers Park (7348 N. Paulina, Chicago IL) mientras marchamos para exigir el cierre de los centros de detención de niñxs de Heartland Alliance y la liberación total y inmediata de ellxs!

Este fin de semana del día de los Pueblos Originarios, decimos "No ninxs robadxs, no tierra robada!” Tal como cuando lo hicieron con los internados de los ninxs de Pueblos Originarios, las instalaciones de Heartland Alliance se utilizan para apoyar un sistema de genocidio, separar familias, asimilar culturas y fortalecer las fronteras ilegitimas trazadas a través de tierras Indígenas por estados colonialistas.

Las instalaciones donde lxs ninxs migrantes son detenidxs y deshumanizadxs por promover un programa acelerado de genocidio supremacista blanco deben ser nombradas como lo que son: Campos de Concentración. Incluso aquellos ocultos a plena vista, como las dos instalaciones de Heartland Alliance que se encuentran en Rogers Park.

La detención de niñxs es un instrumento de terror estatal, y también un gran negocio. Miles de ninxs están atrapadxs en el complejo industrial de inmigración, donde son maltratadxs, descuidadxs, y deshumanizadxs con fines de lucro. Para la gran mayoría de lxs ninxs bajo custodia, Heartland tiene el poder de reunirlxs con sus familias ahora mismo, pero en cambio arrastran lxs pies, recaudando ingresos por cada niñx que esta detenidx. A menudo lxs ninxs son retenidxs hasta que cumplen 18 años de edad, cuando, a la medianoche, Heartland lxs entrega a lxs agentes de la migra sin previo aviso. Heartland también coopera con ICE de otras maneras, realizando interrogatorios y recolectando datos biométricos. Cuando luchamos, ganamos. Después de que lxs centros de detención de Heartland fueron objeto de escrutinio publico por denuncias de abuso y supervisión laxa, la gente se organizó y Heartland cerro cuatro de sus centros en lxs suburbios de Chicago. Al movilizar a nuestrxs comunidades en solidas redes de solidaridad, podemos construir el poder necesario para desmantelar lxs sistemas racistas de raíz de y trabajar juntxs para crear un mundo mejor desde abajo. Únete a nosotrxs en las calles para exigir: NO HAY NINXS ROBADXS, NO TIERRAS ROBADXS! CIERRE LXS CAMPAMENTOS DE CONCENTRACION! Reúnase a lxs 3:30 pm en la esquina sureste del Parque Touhy, cerca de la intersección de Paulina y Sherwin, para comenzar la marcha alrededor de las 4 p.m.
