A while back I successfully used build & burn to burn a VIDEO_TS folder to DVD. I must have just got very lucky that time, because I have just tried another and successfully made two... coasters I have used the VIDEO_TS.IFO file and the VIDEO_TS.VOB file. I could just go for a set of three and try to VIDEO_TS.BUP file but I figured I'd swallow my pride and ask. I did try to search for this, but couldn't find anything so far...

I haven't yet, only because I did successfully burn one like this a while nack using ImgBurn solo. Looks like I'm starting to get it now though (though goodness knows how I managed it before - beginner's luck I guess)

The AUDIO_TS folder is used for storing audio data for DVD-audio discs. If the DVD contains only video content, the AUDIO_TS folder will be empty. Therefore, most DVDs have an empty AUDIO_TS folder.

The .VOB (video object) files contain the majority of the DVD data. This includes the actual video and audio data as well as subtitles, additional viewing angles, and other video-related data. VOB files can be a maximum of 1 GB in size, which is why multiple VOB files are often required to create a video DVD. Some programs can extract video data from VOB files or play back the video data directly.

The .IFO (information) files contain basic information about the DVD and the corresponding VOB files. This includes what data should be loaded when the DVD is first inserted, where the DVD chapter markers are located, and what DVD commands can be entered by the user.

The .BUP (backup) files are exact copies of the IFO files. The serve as backups in case the original IFO files become corrupted and cannot be read. Since the DVD cannot be played back without valid information files, the BUP files reduce the risk of a small error or scratch on the disc ruining the DVD.

I don't know when this changed, but previously (I believe) Emby Server would recognize a VIDEO_TS folder in the Extras folder in the following directory format:

Dark City (1998)\Extras\Gallery and Metropolis Comparison (Text)\VIDEO_TS

And then Emby Theater would present that item "Gallery and Metropolis Comparison (Text)" in the lists of Extras, where it could be played via the External Player I have configured (in my case, VLC).

The reason I do this is that sometimes there are extras such as image galleries and text content which are only available via the DVD menu. So I copy only the files within the original VIDEO_TS folder which are necessary for the DVD-menu-only extras I want and put those in a folder like the above example.

Currently these folders are no longer being recognized and displayed for Movies, though it does still work for folders with the TV "Special" season folder. It is also possible that I am not remembering correctly and that it actually never worked for Movie the Extras folder and has only ever worked for TV Special folder. I don't think that is the case though -- I think it worked for the Movie Extras folder at some point in the past, as I normally test these things when I am converting a movie.

I understand this is an edge case which might not effect many users, but figured it wouldn't hurt to mention it in case it is something that can be easily fixed.

If folks have suggestions for how to achieve my above goals using a different route I'm open to that.

Thanks!

Yeah, I understand and respect that. I actually am gradually converting everything to MKV, and that is what has prompted this particular issue. As I said above, there is some content that only exists withing a DVD's Menu interface (eg, image galleries, text content about a movie, etc). So, converting a DVD to MKV still leaves me without this content. So the above method is something I came up with where I would convert the movie and all the video-based extras into MKV files, and then just keep the portion of the VIDEO_TS folder data necessary to play the DVD menu (so that I can view the galleries, etc.).
