I came across an eBay auction for a lot of Canadian provincial patches
and it got me thinking of an idea Tom Hemmenway had previously.

Has anybody else thought of a MoPac regional patch? When our teams go
to national events, it'd be nice to have something to promote the
region.

Seems anything that can further put spotlight on our region would be
beneficial.

Tom has a design ready to go, but I don't know if he has revealed it
to MoPac yet?

Let me touch up the logo then share it. Will do that this week for sure...

Tom, Nick keep me in the loop and forward the design as well. Merwyn

Hi all,

I have a friend at the station who is a graphic designer and she's going to be helping me with some stuff for our club and she'd love to take a stab at a MoPac design as well.  (She's looking to build a freelance portfolio, and this would be a perfect project for that.)

Is there are deadline that we're working towards for a logo?

Awesome.

I'd imagine if we were to impose a deadline, it should be by Mid-January, then the winner's of the various play downs can get a MoPac patch for nationals.

So we didn't get one in time for this year, so what if we did some
sort of contest open to all of mopac. Any member can create a design,
then we'll have some narrowing process down to 3 or 5 or whatever,
then we'll open it up to all the mopac members to vote for the patch?

Sound like something we can do? Some sort of prize?

I agree looks good!!.   .
Agree completely on opening the design up to the members as a contest and award.     A nice medal ( with this new design) and a professional print of the design in recognition of being chosen.  Very similar to what the USCA did a couple of years back with their medals???

I also like that design a lot...it will be tough to beat! I think the
contest is a great idea. Hopefully we can get this rolling soon.

We brought up the idea of a patch to the Mopac Board a while ago, and
I know they are thinking of having a competition to choose a logo/
patch.
Will keep you posted as soon as they decide on it. The MoPac Web site
is in the works and should be launched soon.

Merwyn,

I dropped a patch design into the works mostly as a way to
get the ball rolling too, and have received some positive feedback
and interesting comments. In response to one of those comments.

Also, I have received quotes on what my design entry will cost to
produce (always an important part of a project like this)...

The 3 inch round patch produced as a hybrid of both subliminal
printing
and embroidery will cost about $1.25 each in qty of 500.
The rockers for club names and instructor will cost as much as $3.50
each
in qty of 25-50.

My thinking is that at $1.25, the circular patch is inexpensive enough
to be
a member bennie, and the rockers purchased individually as needed.

That's it for now... fire back with any questions or comments.
John
