Because StackOverflow is cool, I created a proposal for a mootools overflow

Says we need 60 followers and some questions to move to the next
phase.
Personally I like the "Stacks" method of Q&A over forums and mailing
lists.

If you're also interested in this, please follow.

Do they have an RSS feed that includes replies as separate items?
Anything short of that, IMO, sux.

So that's a "no."

-1 from me.

A mootools specific stack overflow would certainly not be a replacement to the ML, it's only about answerable questions, not discussions.

Not sure how I feel about it, honestly, I mean, SO is up there already and MooTools isn't a very popular tag (no idea why, probably a combination of experienced developers who can solve their own problems and a smaller user base.)

As for your concern Sandy, the individual replies aren't nearly as relevant as the answer marked as "correct."

Heartily disagree.

If I'm monitoring a support forum on any level -- helping OPs,
learning from experts, eavesdropping on tangential but still useful
advice, correcting bad advice -- I need the thread. Otherwise the feed
is of no use to me.

Few "upgrades" do I detest more than when projects go to web-based
forums that are giant steps backward from mailing lists in terms of
day-to-day integration into my ecosystem.

Also, I don't see the SO feed showing up-voted replies at all. So make
that a -100. :)

I don't think its a replacement either but it could help with visibility and perceptions with people outside of the mootools community.

Agreed. The mailing list is a tool used by ppl that chose mootools as their tool to do some job.

Newcomers (like ppl that wanna know another framework or ppl coming to javascript) will mostly look at the site, download the code, see the documentation, demos, the forum and, if we use it, this page on stackoverflow.

After sometime they'll feel the need of talking to other devs about the framework, how to do something in a better way, getting feedback on they're codes or showing some ideas, etc.

I'm not saying that ppl coming to mootools shouldn't use it, im just saying that most of the ppl that use it are experienced in some way with mootools.

I agree with you, as someone who has used MT for quite a while I don't think I would ever use the SO but I use this list everyday.

Not so much, because that's the feed for only one question at a time.
You would have to subscribe to every individual question, which is
impossibly cumbersome. Thanks for taking me seriously, though!

If the feed of questions only also nested the per-question Atom link
in each feed entry, that might be somewhat better -- you'd still have
to subscribe to each question, but at least you would see the
drill-down links within your reader -- but I don't see that. And it
still would be pretty sucky.
