Hi guys,

I have recently studied the kernels of the moose!

And I wonder that I understand the correctly.

I just derived the residual from the below Allen-Cahn equation.

Residual:

From this residual I figured out the necessary kernels for the calculation.

Summary: TimeDerivative, KKSACBulkC, KKSACBulkF, ACInterface

I think these 4 kernels are necessary for the calculation.

Am I right?

Best regards,

Nakkyu

Nakkyu, welcome to the MOOSE community! Looks like you are off to a good start. You are correct about the TimeDerivative and ACInterface kernels, however the term in second box should be handled by the AllenCahn kernel. The kernels prefaced by "KKS" are for the Kim-Kim-Suzuki phase field model.

Thank you for your reply!

I actually want to use KKS Model, hence I derived the residual and used the KKS kernels.

If this situation, then am I right in the second box?

Thank you.

Best regards,
Nakkyu

You can find the details on how the KKS model is implemented here:

Hi Nakkyu,

Are you talking about this example (https://github.com/idaholab/moose/blob/devel/modules/phase_field/test/tests/KKS_system/kks_example_split.i)?

KKSACBulkC and KKSACBulkF are used here to calculate Allen-Cahn equation, so does KKSACBulkC + KKSACBulkF equivalent to  AllenCahn kernel?

This part (https://www.mooseframework.org/modules/phase_field/Phase_Field_Equations.html) does not explain how KKSACBulkC, KKSACBulkF are used.

Thanks,
Wesley
