Hello Team,

Hope you are doing great. I am Ahmed a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering from UTSA. For some of my research works I need MOOSE to be installed in our server.  As an initial step to that I went to the MOOSE (INL) site and started following the instructions one by one. The link from where I started is given below.

http://mooseframework.org/getting-started/

Minimum System RequirementsCompiler: C++11 Compliant GCC 4.8.4, Clang 3.4.0, Intel20130607Memory: 16 GBs (debug builds)Processor: 64-bit x86Disk: 30GBOS: UNIX ...
My cloning was successful. Then I did the "update" of the script- libmesh and rebuild was also finished. Made a little modification to compile libmesh as the folder named "installed" was not found. Had to create another folder called build and then it ran. Then I ran the make file " make -j8 " as the final step but the following two errors are showing

  • PETSC can not be found
  • Lmesh opt can not be found

Could you please help me by providing a little hint on how to get over from here?
Any support will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ahmed

Ahmed,

Out of all the operating systems available at that URL location, which one did you follow (Step 1)?

Thanks!
Jason

Hello Moose Team,

Thanks for the response. Did you mean out of the following options which one I picked?

Ahmed,

In that case, did you perform the Single user, or Multi User?

Thanks!
Jason

Ahmed,

The only thing that I can think of;  are you loading the moose-dev-gcc module before attempting to build libMesh?

Otherwise, unless you have `sudo` rights on your cluster, there is not much you can perform to fix the issue. But I suspect it will have to do with the moose-dev-gcc module, and or how that is loaded up on your cluster. You will need to work with your system administrator and ask them how to 'load' the environment they installed via those instructions.

Thanks!
Jason

As a first time installer I would recommend following the single user cluster installation steps first.  Get that working for one user first... then think about making modules for other people.

If you have to create a "build" or "installed" directory then something went wrong.  Don't go creating those yourself.  Let us know what the errors are and send us the config.log from the libmesh directory.

OK. I will try the single user first.

Thanks,
