The 0.74 stable build of Dosbox works perfectly fine. The issue is not dosbox, but rather this launcher.dxr file. When the game installs, it adds this file to the install folder, however it is only 10kb, where-as the version of the cd is 807kb. Copying the copy on the cd over to the install folder is what fixes the issue with this game. Odd that it copies the file over, but gets it wrong.

For network shares seems it is critical to have that additional / at the end. These mount commands can be also placed in your dosbox-0.74.conf file located in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\DOSBox and you'll have C: and N: drives available from the start.

I'm trying to play an old game (Betrayal in Antara) and I found an old post where it was said that the game runs well under win 3.x in dosbox so I have installed Windows 3.1 in DosBox but whenever i start it up i get the following error messages -

i've done all this but I don't know how to make windows point to the cd drive since the c: drive is mounted in dosbox and i cant figure out how to get into the e: drive through windows 3.1, I tried copying all the files into the install directory in the windows folder but that didnt seem to work.

Thats what I was doing, but the drives don't show up all I have is a,c and Z:dosbox, but I think I got past that problem anyway, now when I go to run betrayal in antara it starts to load and then it exits the game and dosbox, I tried switching the cpu core to normal but then got this error Win 32s - Error

ok, I got the cd drive thing to work, I was trying to mount it like you mount a regular hard drive folder(I've been using dosbox for years but never needed to mount a cd drive)anyway I am still getting that win32s error, one time I was able to get a little farther but the game tried to open, froze and then closed eventually. please help.

To launch Windows, type cd windows to change to the Windows directory, then type win to start Windows. At this point Windows should load successfully, but without sound. We need to install sound and video drivers to get the most out of the Windows 3.1 experience.

I have the same issue. I can do a dir > lpt or dir >.prnin Dosbox and the file list prints, but none of my old dos programs will print. The net use command works on my old windows 2000 system just find sending the output to a wireless printer. The net use command works in DosBox but only for the dir command, not for the old dos programs. Any hints???

I have a DOS program.. Its Time and Attendance program.. I need to print ... The print is connected via usb.. I download dosbox Megabuild6 and configiured it so it will print to lpt1..but its not printing.. any suggestions..

I am also having same exact issue I am currently using DOSBox SVN-Daum trying to print to HP printer that is shared from main server. I have no issue mapping the printer in dos prompt on windows xp using net use command but for some reason I cannot get this to work in DOSBox. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

For this reason, Gentoo users who want to run Windows 98 in a DOS emulator arerecommended to use a DOSBox fork instead. Personally, I have been usingDOSBox-X on Gentoo to run Windows 98 for a while, and stability has beenimpressive. There is not an official DOSBox-X package for Gentoo yet, which iswhy I have created and been maintaining ebuilds for DOSBox-X myself. Theseebuilds are now available as games-emulation/dosbox-x inGURU; interested Gentoo users are welcome to try them out.

Note that DOSBox will start up TINY if you have a 4k monitor. There's a few things to you can do about it. First, ALT-ENTER will toggle DOSBox into full screen mode, although when you return to Windows your windows may find themselves resized.
