Upcoming Events for December 2012

Saturday, December 1, 2012, 2:00pm
UU Church of Haverhill

Community Meals Service

“You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have really lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love.”

“There is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving” - Henry Drummond

Truer words may never have been spoken, and we invite you to create your own happiness by joining us in service at the next Community Meals, hosted at the UU Church of Haverhill. We expect between 40-45 people, men, woman and children, who have fallen on hard times and look to this program for a good hot meal.

You would be expected to show up at the Church at 2PM, help with preparation, serving and cleanup. With that many people attending we really could use all the help we can get, and it’s a nice way to get to meet each other outside of a circle or ritual.

Please consider this act of service and RSVP if you are able.

Songspells

Music plays an important role in magick, even when not in a formal ritual setting. It is not just theater used to set the mood. It is a way of expressing honor and connecting to the spirits. A re-commitment to music can bring sacredness not only to rituals, but also into daily life and home, bringing you back in balance. When you reflect on the magick, energy and wonderful people that music can bring into your life, you will be truly thankful!

Class begins at 6PM with Circle to follow.

Krampusnacht

Krampusnacht (Night of Krampus) is observed on the eve of Saint Nicholas day. In the parts of Austria, Hungary, Bavaria, Slovenia and the E.U. where St Nicholas evolved primarily from the Norse God Thor (long beard, flies through the air), Loki evolved into the anti-santa known as Krampus. While in America Santa has duel duty of taking care of both good and bad children, St. Nicolas and Krampus play a "good cop, bad cop", with St Nick rewarding the good and Krampy (sometimes as Black Peter) scaring the bejeezes out of the naughty. A cross between Xmas and Halloween, revelers honor Krampus by mumming (frightening others with masks and scary garb), carousing, fire dancing and other recreations.

Coffee Hour

We will be serving as ushers and hosting Coffee Hour after the regular UU Sunday service. This will provide us the opportunity to give back to the UU congregation that has supported us all these years.

UU services are open and welcoming, and most first-timers are surprised at how much we have in common. Regardless of your beliefs you are not required to participate in the service if you choose not to.

All dedicants are requested to attend as part of a service project, the Pagan community at large is also invited to participate. Please wear robes if you have them or at least "your finest pentagrams and witchy things" :-)

You are asked to be at the church by 10 AM and bring a small snack (peanut free, there are some with allergies!). Some Gluten and Sugar free items are encouraged also.

All help would be appreciated, whether it be setting up, serving, or cleaning up afterward. It is important that all who are planning on attending RSVP, and let us know what you will be able to bring for a snack or other food dish if you are able.

More power to you, and Be Blessed!

Thursday, December 13, 2012, 7:00 PM
LaFesta Brick & Brew Pizza
300 Central Ave, Dover, NH

This is a regular event hosted by Dee from the PaganFM radio station which occurs every 2nd Thursday of each month. We get pizza, drinks, and just have a great time talking and meeting new and like minded people in a very unofficial setting. It is a great time and all are invited to attend. Strongly suggested that you get there early to get a seat!

There is no cost to attend, but donations toward the cost of the pizza Dee buys are greatly appreciated if you are able. If not, it's not a problem. Any drinks you may want are not included in this though.
