Upcoming Events for October 2012

Sunday, October 7, 2012, 6:00pm

UU Church of Haverhill

16 Ashland Street, Haverhill, MA

Aspirging and Attunement

Aspirging is cleansing oneself in preparation, Attunement is aligning our energies with those of others, becoming “in tune”. Just as we would prepare our tools before using them in ritual, we should consider how our own auric energies should be cleansed and attuned. This class examines the importance of doing so along with techniques to effectively prepare ourselves, our tools and our surroundings.

Class starts at 6PM  with Open Circle to follow

LaFesta Brick & Brew Pizza

300 Central Ave, Dover, NH

This is a regular event hosted by Dee from the PaganFM radio station which occurs every 2nd Thursday of each month. We get pizza, drinks, and just have a great time talking and meeting new and like minded people in a very unofficial setting. It is a great time and all are invited to attend. Strongly suggested that you get there early to get a seat!

There is no cost to attend, but donations toward the cost of the pizza Dee buys are greatly appreciated if you are able. If not, it's not a problem. Any drinks you may want are not included in this though.

Muggle Education/Coffee Hour

The MoonPool coven is hosting a Muggle Education/Pagan Awareness Sunday.

It has long been a belief of the Craft not to evangelize. We never push our beliefs on others. However, too many times we may go unnoticed. Too many times people may have prejudices that they aren't even aware of, taught to them before they were old enough to critically examine their beliefs.

We will be serving as ushers and hosting Coffee Hour after the regular UU Sunday service. This will provide us the opportunity to show "there are more of us than you may think" but more importantly it gives those that may be curious the chance to ask us about our beliefs. It also lets us give back to the UU congregation that has supported us all these years. UU services are open and welcoming, and most first-timers are surprised at how much we have in common. Regardless of your beliefs you are not required to participate in the service if you choose not to.

All dedicants are requested to attend as part of a service project, the Pagan community at large is also invited to participate. Please wear robes if you have them or at least "your finest pentagrams and witchy things" :-)

You are asked to be at the church by 10 AM and bring a small snack (peanut free, there are some with allergies!). Some Gluten and Sugar free items are encouraged also.

All help would be appreciated, whether it be setting up, serving, or cleaning up afterward. It is important that all who are planning on attending RSVP, and let us know what you will be able to bring for a snack or other food dish if you are able.

More power to you, and Be Blessed!

Leoric

Location to be determined

Reiki I Class and Certification

Location to be announced, will be on the North Shore / Greater Andover area.

Since I have been asked by many members, I have decided to finally schedule a Reiki I Certification class. Upon completion we can start to hold regular Reiki Share sessions for graduates to practice. The study of Reiki can greatly compliment the other classes this group sponsors.  Reiki Level I students become acquainted with Reiki energy and are taught how to perform healing sessions on the self and others. Learning Reiki involves an energy activation process called an “attunement” which is performed by the Reiki Master with each student. Through this process students are opened to the flow of Reiki energy which provides an energetic shift, causing healing energies and intuitive insights to emerge. The attunement opens innate healing channels, enabling students to immediately tap into the flow of Reiki energy and perform healing sessions. In addition to learning the Reiki method of healing, students also may experience an increase in their spiritual awareness and intuitive abilities. After learning Reiki, students report having increased energy, self-awareness, personal charisma, peace, and compassion.

Topics covered in Reiki I Certification:

◦What is Reiki and how the Reiki energy works
◦The history of Reiki
◦How to channel Reiki energy for self-healing and the healing of others
◦Reiki Level I Attunement which open the flow of Reiki energy within the student
◦Hand positions for healing
◦Techniques for expanding intuitive, extra-sensory perceptions
◦How the chakras function with regard to healing work and everyday life
◦Self-healing techniques for expanding personal awareness and accelerating wellness
◦Hands-on practice both giving and receiving Reiki sessions
◦Reiki and spiritual growth.

Class Duration: 2 afternoon sessions

Reiki Level I includes a Reiki Level I Manual and certification through the American Reiki Academy as a Reiki Practitioner. Initiation into the Level II energies is given privately one-on-one with the Reiki Master. Students are empowered to use Reiki on themselves and others directly following this class, with ongoing support available.

The regular price for this class is $125 but due to the nature of this group I am providing training at half my regular rate.

Classes run 2 days, Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 10-4
Bring a lunch and wear comfortable clothing

Cost is $75 and includes all materials, $50 non-refundable deposit due to reserve space; balance due in full prior to start of class.

Magik and Ethics

Before one undertakes the aspects of ritual, spells, or magick, we should first address ethics. Ethics is defined as, "A set of principles of right conduct. b. A theory or a system of moral values. “In Wicca you often hear the word "ethics" with very little definition. What we are talking of here is the principles that govern the use of the Universal Power of Magick. The Wiccan Rede, "An it harm none, do what thou wilt" is the beginning of the just ethics of the Craft. Some other things to consider when discussing Craft ethics are the Three Fold Law, Revenge, and the attempt to force one’s will upon another against their will or without their knowledge. This class examines the basics as well as a foundation for utilizing a system that will be productive for all involved.

Class begins at 6PM followed by Open Circle

8pm-1am

UU Church of Haverhill
16 Ashland St, Haverhill, MA

Join members and friends of the MoonPool Coven for our 5th Annual Witches’ Ball and Dumb Supper! This is a wonderful way to celebrate Samhain in a traditional way while having a great time! The evening will start with a costume party from 8PM – 11PM. We will have music, refreshments and contest, including costume contest (and possibly even karaoke!). We may even have a return visit from the Old Wizard for his traditional reading of "the Night Before Samhain" (it was so well received last year!).

After the party those who wish (and ALL are invited) can stay for a short ceremony honoring family & friends who have passed, culminating with a traditional Witches’ Dumb Supper at Midnight. Admission to the Party is a non-perishable item for donation to the local food pantry, and  pot-luck dishes to share at the party are appreciated. You may also need a few coins to pay the boatman at the river Styx. Children are welcome to the Party but due to the late hour would not be encouraged to attend the ritual. The Dumb Supper will require all in attendance to refrain from speaking during the meal.
