Health issues

Hola Friends,

Over the holiday weekend I was busy struggling with what was suspected to be mono.  Today I had an opportunity to talk to a doctor, and thankfully mono was ruled out, but it was diagnosed as some other terrible virus.

Additionally, I was advised not to fly to Houston because it is super contagious.  I'm going to get checked out again tomorrow in case there is a huge comeback, but at the moment I'm in no shape to fly in Houston.

I'll let you guys know if anything changes. By the way, does anyone know who I should contact from NASA with a doctors note or something?

also...you can probably get at least some of your airfare back, do call the airline brah

(in an attempt to get a full refund you can play dumb about travel insurance and be all "Oh I didn't realize that was an option, I must have overlooked it when purchasing the tickets. Is there any way you could waive the ticket fare this one time as a courtesy?") << I've done this with airfares, hotels, etc and it works more often than not

Not sure about who to contact, I would just send a note to james semple at jsc-reduc...@nasa.gov. Hope that you don't have to do that!

Thanks for the wishes everyone!  My recovery seems to be going well.

On the mono suspicion:  the symptoms seemed to match on webmd.  Later on I discovered the order that the symptoms appeared and one or two other things didn't quite match up correctly.  Oh, also it's really awful.

Now for the bad news: After today's visit, I got shut down from flying to Houston for this week.  I'm really bummed that I won't get a chance to be in Houston for the week, fly in zero-g, and see the experiment happen.  Overall it should be better for the world that I don't infect the whole airplane flying to Texas and all of you guys during the week, but I'm still a little salty.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity be part of this group over the year(s), and I hope everything works out during the flight week.  Also, I hope someone takes at least one cool photo while in Houston.
