HI All,

Q: Set-up a camera with just a main stream ?

I just set-up my system as documented.

I am using cheap cameras - https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=v380+camera&_sacat=0&_sop=15 aka v380

The main stream rtsp is 1290x720 and I can get another stream at 640x480, but I can not control the fps (as yet, need to investigate a telnet session on these cameras)

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bmsleight/moonfire-nvr/master/guide/images/moonfire-config-camera-2.png

There is little benefit of the second stream. However it appears not possible to set-up a camera with just a main stream and be able to view and record.

Q: Set-up a camera with just a main stream ?

Best Regards,
Brendan

Neat!

You should be able to configure just the main stream and have record and playback work fine.

It's just the live view that only works with the sub stream. This is purely a frontend limitation and fixable:
  • clydebarrow's moonglass frontend will let you stream the main stream.
  • in #115 I wrote: "support switching between main and sub streams. Currently it always uses the sub stream. Manual switching would be relatively easy. I'd like to also support automatic switching based on display size (vs sub stream size) and available bandwidth. That's trickier to get right, especially with multiple streams going. Another concern is that I'm not sure exactly how in sync the times are on the sub and main stream and if it's possible to do any better (e.g., if they're guaranteed to use the same pts base in the same boot of the camera)."
