It might be cool to think about the Dream, Build, Play contest when
your discussing ideas for the next game jam tonight. The 24 hour game
jam sessions could be used to put together core elements of the game.
Like the first one could be just the engine, second one could be level
design, third could be sound, menus and polish. I don't know, just an
idea.

BTW, MS employees cannot 'officially' be part of a DBP team. :(

I've thought about it before, and while a DBP project could pull elements from one of our jam sessions, I'm reluctant to focus a jam session around DBP.

The problem is the Dream-Build-Play is more of a long-term content, and the games created will have to be closed-source.  Our goal (so far) with the jam session projects is for them to have a 24-hour commitment, and be completely open-source.

Of course, if everyone else is wanting to do something different, I'm all ears.

Has anyone else played Patapon for the PSP? I've always thought that it
would be fairly simple to build an engine for a game like that. I've been
playing the demo for Patapon 2 recently and it's re-ignited my interest in
writing something similar. I bet with 4+ people you could hash out
something similar and playable in < 24 hours.
