Hi Everyone,
As you can see, I have created a Google-groups email so we can send and receive information from each other. Hopefully, I have this set up properly. I have just a few things to pass along to the group.
1. I have attached the newsletter from the Australian Chapter of the MOA for you to check out. Chris Ayres, from Sydney, copies me on his newsletter and I thought you might find it interesting. I think it would be a great idea for us to have one of our own. It wouldn’t have to be a book just a couple of pages emailed quarterly to the group. Any takers on being editor? I was editor of the Moody Boat Owners Association of the Americas (MBOAA) for a number of years and I must say it was always interesting.
2. Regarding the up-coming presentation by David Moody in Hilton Head , South Carolina, I would like to try to get a loose head count on those that think they can make it. I realize we are all very spread out but hopefully those of us on this side of the continent can make a special effort to join Mr. Moody for his presentation on the “Moody Legacy”. I am sure he can answer a lot of questions that you may have about the company and your specific model. The presentation is scheduled for Saturday, June 4th. We have two separate members (Jeff Dowling and Jenny Swearingen) scouring Hilton Head for a spot to hold the meeting. It’s a 10 hour drive for my wife and I but we are already making plans to drive over on the Friday, stay the night, attend the presentation and then drive back to Pensacola, FL. A long haul but it’s not an everyday occurrence.
3. If you recall from the last email, Michael and Barbara aboard SV Astarte recently won an award at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the MOA near London for their article on cruising the Colombian Coast. Well as it happens the Executive Committee also made another award to our group. Believe it or not they awarded me the International Award for helping to start the Americas Chapter of the MOA. I was very surprised but just happy that we took home some more trophies for our Chapter. We need to send in more articles for the Compass magazine to see if we can get more recognition for our side of the pond.
I hope everyone of you are soon able to enjoy your Moody’s. Here in Florida it’s already in the high 80s but I understand the weather may not be conducive to sailing in the northern areas just yet. As a matter of fact, our newest member Jenny Swearingen (Panama City, FL), who owns a Moody 33, will be heading out on a cruise in a week heading to Pensacola where I live. We are planning to have a rendezvous of the Southeastern Branch of the Americas Chapter in mid May :>) If anyone is in the area please let us know and we can expand the rendezvous from just two members to how ever many show up.
Please remember to let know if you plan to attend the presentation by David Moody on June 4th, in Hilton Head.
Have a great day,
Peter

Hi Peter, sorry for my late response here. I was actually planning a run to NC on 6-3 to bring Deb back to NY for a few weeks so… a little more driving the next day to SC and extend my weekend a bit works for me here. Not sure if we’ll spend the night or not depending on whether I can find a pet friendly hotel (our three little pups go everywhere with us), but count us in. My 38 was quite an interesting story at the end and I would love to be part of this. We will finally meet in person!
Stay well…Mark
