I originally had problems with ex. 116.2, but in the middle of that I received msgs saying I had 35 updates to the system.  I took the option to install them, and got a msg saying that the plug-in manager couldn't install dozens of modules due to version mismatches, and I had an empty NetBeans screen.  At that point I uninstalled/reinstalled NetBeans/TMC, and got the same errors and couldn't access my projects.

At that point I uninstalled/reinstalled Java AND NetBeans/TMC.    This cleared up my environment so I could find my projects, etc.  But all of my source code is gone and replaced with the original skeletons.  I tried downloading completed projects and only get the original skeletons.  How do I get back the coding for all the week 7 exercises I completed, and ex. 116 from week 8?

A couple questions more, which NetBeans version dis you have when you tried updating NB related plugins?

Which operating system?
Which Java version?

By default all NB projects are located under you home directory in folder NetBeansProjects. And uninstallin/installing netbeans should not remove that folder. Thus you should be able to open all projects there.

Thanks.  This is good to know.  I finally found the problem.  The NetBeansProject folder had a folder 2013-OOProgrammingWithJava-PART2 that contained the current versions of all the projects AND another folder with the same name 2013-OOProgrammingWithJava-PART2 with project shells for everything.  I deleted the subfolder 2013-OOProgrammingWithJava-PART2 and its contents, and now everything seems to work okay.  I still don't know how the folder structure got corrupted like that.
