adding projects

Hi

I'm having problems with adding projects.

I'm just starting out. I'm using netbeans on a mac and I'm not able to directly add the project folders to nb. They download ok (from nb tmc plugin as well as from the command line) but nb sees them as folders, not projects. I'm able to add them through new project > with existing sources. I'm relatively new to this stuff so I'd like to know why it isn't working as it should even though I found a way around it.

On the left side panel of the NetBeans, it shows the files tab and projects tab. For some reason, NB tends to prefer the files tab.

Does it seem like you have no files in the projects also when viewing the files w/o NB?
