AmolAggarwal received his PhD in 2020 from Harvard University, where he was advised by Alexei Borodin. His research lies largely in probability theory and combinatorics, as well as their connections to mathematical physics, integrable systems, and dynamical systems.

Earlier, I studied mathematics and computer science at Grinnell College, Iowa, advised by Prof. Jennifer Paulhus and Prof. Nicole Eikmeier. I also spent my senior year in the Budapest Semesters in Math program, and I highly recommend it.

Neelam Aggarwal joined the mathematics faculty at Georgia Southern in 2012. She serves as a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics since 2021. Her teaching assignments include both in-person as well as online undergraduate math courses, such as Calculus I, Survey of Calculus, Trigonometry, College Algebra, and Math Modeling. She has been involved in various departmental committees, such as Gateway to Completion (G2C) for Calculus, G2C for College Algebra, Core Curriculum Committee, and Math Competition hosted by the Math Department of Georgia Southern University.

When I am not studying math, watching anime, or failing academically, I like to trek and play tennis. I also like running, playing chess, and trying to boulder. I spend way too much time on Reddit and Spotify as well.

Manindra Agrawal (born 20 May 1966) is an Indian computer scientist and director of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. also professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.[1] He was the recipient of the first Infosys Prize for Mathematics,[2] the Godel Prize in 2006; and the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in Mathematical Sciences in 2003. He has been honoured with Padma Shri, India's 4th highest civilian award, in 2013.[3][4]

He created the AKS primality test with Neeraj Kayal and Nitin Saxena, for which he and his co-authors won the 2006 Fulkerson Prize, and the 2006 Gdel Prize. He was also awarded 2002 Clay Research Award for this work. The test is the first unconditional deterministic algorithm to test an n-digit number for primality in a time that has been proven to be polynomial in n.[5]

In September 2008, Agrawal was chosen for the first Infosys Mathematics Prize for outstanding contributions in the broad field of mathematics.[6] He also served on the Mathematical Sciences jury for the Infosys Prize in 2014 and 2015. He was a visiting scholar at the Institute for Advanced Study in 2003-04.[7]

My scholarship aims to construct a broader and multiple views of mathematics and mathematical learning, for which I draw on interdisciplinary fields of learning sciences, sociocultural anthropology, and history and philosophy of mathematics. Using micro-ethnographic and design-based research approaches, my work centers on the design and analysis of mathematical thinking and epistemic practices in collaborative settings and its entanglement with the structural power and sociocultural dimensions of how people learn. Student engagement, agency, and inquiry; Design of mathematics learning environments, and Epistemological diversity and justice are some constructs and concepts that tie my work together.

I am currently admitting graduate students to work on the below projects with me. I would love to chat with potential doctoral students about their research interests. Please reach out to me via email at pagar...@wisc.edu or twitter @priyanka_agarw.

(1) Investigating the nature of spontaneaous mathematical thinking and practices in the collective actions of social change agents and community organizers.

(2) Design and analysis of learning environments that integrate mathematics learning with social studies as a way to engage secondary school students in examining controversial social issues using mathematics.

(3) Design and analysis of collaborative mathematical problem-posing and inquiry-driven communities of practice in secondary schools
