Subject: Special Event - Houston Great Books Council at the Museum of Fine Arts

*******************************
YOU ARE INVITED! (RSVP requested; see below.)

On Saturday morning, February 16th, 2013, come join a conversation
with many of the great writers and thinkers who have attempted to sort
out the relationship between Truth and Art.

What did John Dewey think? Clive Bell? Martin Heidegger? Come critique
the thoughts of Robert Motherwell. Where do you agree? Disagree? Then,
with some expert docents, let's look at some actual works in the
galleries and share further opinions.

When? Saturday, February 16, 2013
Where? Museum of Fine Arts, 1001 Bissonnet at Montrose (Parking
available free in lot across the street or $3 or $6 in the attached
garage, depending on MFAH Membership level)

The Session:
9:30 am - Gather and sip at Farish Studio (down the hall toward the
garage from Café Express) (coffee and light snacks)
10:00 – Art Reflects Truth Reflects Art: Or Does It? --
Presentation/Discussion by Eric Timmreck with help from you and from
several great writers whom we have read in our groups.
11:15 – Break. Sign in to MFAH at first floor desk (MFAH Members free.
Adults $13, or if 65 or over, $8)
11:30 - In-gallery discussion of works that relate Truth and Art (or don’t!)
12:30 - Lunch together in Cafe Express (self-pay)

RSVP to aitk...@netscape.net. Upon RSVP you will be sent an optional
pre-reading of quotations from major writers.
