Yesterday at Benelux we mentioned the idea of creating a Meetup.com group. It could make it easier to schedule events and locations, as well as increase visibility.
We could of course create "
Clojure Montreal". But given the apparently small size of the Clojure community here (for now? :D), and the fact that our conversation covered a wide variety of topics (event-sourcing, databases, other functional languages, etc.), the idea came up to create a more general "
Functional Programmers Montreal" (ex:
http://www.meetup.com/Functional-Progammers-Paris), or "
Lambda Lounge Montreal" (ex:
http://www.meetup.com/Lambda-Lounge-Utah/).
This way, we could of course speak lots of Clojure (yay!), but it would keep the door open to other interesting topics (ex: other functional programming languages, logic programming, distributed and concurrent programming, abstraction, complexity, emerging tech, etc.).
What do you guys think?
