Hi everyone

Is anyone interested in meeting at one of the coworking spaces,
possibly La Commune, next Tuesday evening, Jan 27th?

I'm still tossing around ideas for what to do at meetings besides one
or two short talks. I enjoyed that one meeting we had where we worked
on some 4clojure problems. It seemed like it was useful for both
people new to clojure and people who'd had clojure experience and
wanted to 'golf' the problems. Even so, 4clojure might be good for one
meeting but it would get old fast..

Another idea is kind of like a book club. We could choose a library or
technology ahead of time (something like the clojure lib quill,
overtone, or core.logic) and then anyone interested can play around
with them before the meetup. At the meetup, a volunteer could give a
short intro for anyone who didn't have time to look into that meetup's
topic and then we could share what we'd done and discuss problems
encountered or other ideas.

Has anyone heard of a tech meetup working like this? It seems like it
would be more sustainable for a small group compared to talks with
slides and demos. But does it sound like something you'd want to
attend?

Any other ideas?

I'm available for Jan 27th!

I would have liked to see Jonathan's introduction to Clojure, but he's leaving soon.

Choosing a tech to demo sounds nice to me. It addresses more directly a problem to solve and the language becomes the context.

A clojure intro would be good if we can attract some new people. A lot more people have joined the meetup group than I expected! but who knows how many will come to a meeting on short notice. I've created the event for it now but it's light on details at this point

rsvp on the site if you're planning to come. Realistically, it's likely going to be another small meetup where we talk about a range of different topics and discuss what we can do for future meetings. Still should be interesting though!

Hey folks,

I hosted a couple of the meetups at Caravan quite a while ago. Would love to host more from my current office at Brandicted if there's a need for new locations. We're at 809 William St near Square Victoria metro.

Book club thing sounds cool. Anyone have experience using Liberator with ClojureScript and/or Om?

Oh, this would be a very convenient location for me.

Of course, I'll let the organizers see if it's convenient for the majority.

Thanks Chris. Having more options where we can host meetings is great.

I misread one of Jonathan's emails where he actually suggested meeting
Thursday and not Tuesday, which is when I created the event for. I'm
waiting for an email from him to see if he's available on Tuesday.
He's both leaving the city soon and was going to be our host at La
Commune so I may need to change the date.

Jeff, are you available Thursday?

Yes, Thursday might be even better.

Ok great. I've changed the meetup to Thursday evening instead, and
Jonathan is waiting to hear from La Commune if the space is available
that night.

Chris, in case La Commune is not available would we be able to meet at
Brandicted's office on Thursday, Jan 29, sometime between 6-8pm?

Oh. Sorry Chris. I didn't realize you weren't in the meetup.com event.
Glad you could still made it to the meeting.

We'll likely take you up on your offer and host future meetups at
Brandicted though.
