Hi fellow Clojurians,

At last, I'm organizing Bonjure next meeting at the brand new CRIM!

It would be on Tuesday October 26th at 18h30.

I'm calling for volunteers to make a presentation.

Please respond if you're planning to go so I can give an estimate for
the CRIM to get an appropriate sized conference room.

As per the suggestion of someone (named Paul I believe) at the last
Montreal.rb meeting, I'll send an invite to the Montreal Scheme/Lisp
User Group.

I hope most of us can make it. There's a lot of catching up to do!

Hey, I believe I should be able to make it.

Thanks,

Alex

I'll be there! Although I won't have the time to prepare a presentation.

See you there.

Is there any topic that people would like to see covered. Some clojure
basics, or something application specific?

A couple of things I'm working on at the moment are:

swank - add jpda debug support
pallet - a cloud server configuration an management tool (along the lines
of chef, but different)

Also what format would people prefer? - I know some groups have hour long
presentations with questions (eg. bay area group). Others do "communal"
hacking on a project (eg. seajure)

Hi Hugo,

I would really like to learn how to debug efficiently my Clojure code. I think a presentation on your work on adding jpda support to swank would be spot on, especially since debug tooling is not super mature right now and that can be a major hurdle for someone new to Clojure. As for the format of the presentation, I am open to both ones you suggest, pick the one you prefer :-) !

I would also like to see a presentation on pallet since it's a success story in the Clojure community.

So I guess I would personally prefer a talk on jpda swank integration for the first meeting and then a talk on pallet in a subsequent one - don't worry, you won't be the only one making presentations! Let's see what the other Bonjure members feel like!

François.

@Hugo: have you settled on a particular presentation and format?
By the way, I'm not sure if you have a Mac, but if you do, you'll need
a VGA adapter to connect to the projector.

I'm also calling out for others who would like to present, be it at
the next meeting or in November. Maybe someone who'd be back from the
first Clojure Conference would like to talk about it ;)

I guess in any case we could begin the meeting going round between
members to see what we've all been up to and our newcomers can
introduce themselves.

I'll talk about some of the details of Pallet. At the moment, I have
(physically) lost my voice. I'm hoping it will be back by Tuesday evening.

One idea to address learning to work in clojure is to think of a simple
bit of code that we can hack on together during the meeting.

Another would be to explore the differences between lein, cake and maven.

Both ideas seem interesting, and to me, especially the second one.
