Montpelier Bikes Project •  January 2009

Bicycling initiatives will be discussed at the Montpelier Planning Commission this Monday, Jan 26.  
Montpelier Bikes is taking several recommendations before the commission.
Please attend the meeting if you can, to learn more about these initiatives, and provide your additional public comment, input, and support. 

Bicycle discussion is first on the agenda after the meeting begins at 7 pm, and scheduled to end by 7:45.

Montpelier Bikes' recommendations include:
 • Bicycle Parking - throughout downtown, plus shelters and lockers
 • A Complete Streets Resolution
 • The creation of a Bicycle Master Plan - to recommend how bicycle facilities can fit on each city street.
 • Revisions to Sidewalk Riding Ordinances

Montpelier Bikes formed in 2007 as a subcommittee of the Montpelier  
Energy Team.  Our steering committee includes representatives from  
Onion River Sports, the Montpelier Downtown Community Association,  
consulting firm Going Green, Community Connections / Montpelier Safe  
Routes to School, FreeRide, and local citizens.  The Montpelier Bikes  
Project is funded with a grant from the Mazur Foundation, and with the  
support of the City of Montpelier.
