Web Application Developer
Vermont Information Consortium operates the Vermont.gov portal
(
www.vermont.gov) on behalf of the State of Vermont. We provide
Internet-based electronic government services that reduce costs and
provide a higher level of service to businesses and citizens. Vermont
Information Consortium is a subsidiary of NIC Inc [NASDAQ: EGOV],
located in Montpelier and is seeking a qualified Web Application
Developer for a unique and challenging six-month assignment that will
hopefully transition into a long-term position.
Duties:
Design and develop complex web applications
Prototype new web applications in a rapid manner using design
standards
Work with other staff to help determine project and deployment
specifications
Work with other developers and design staff in enhancing user
interfaces
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Experience developing web applications with PHP, Perl, SQL,
Javascript.
Understanding of standards based web design using HTML and CSS
Knowledge of accessibility and usability of web applications is
desired
Knowledge of basic relational database design techniques, MySQL
preferred
Knowledge of Internet-based application security principles is helpful
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
Able to handle multiple projects in various stages of development and
work in a team environment
Knowledge of Drupal open source CMS/CMF a plus
Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
