Rainy Weekend Ahead - Sign up for new Montpelier Alerts Service

Hello!

 

The weather forecast for this weekend is for rain – possibly lots of it.  We are sending this message to let you know just in case you would like to take some precautions – basements, culverts, drainage areas, etc. should all be checked.   For more information about the weather (the city doesn’t make independent weather predictions – we get them from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) go to www.weather.gov. 

 

The city has also subscribed to a new service called Blackboard Connect that will allow us to make phone calls, send text messages, send e-mails, and page people who would like to be notified of emergencies.  The database we have already includes some phone numbers that were already publically available in the phone book.  Now that so many people depend on cell phones, however, we can’t be sure that we will have the information you would like us to use.

 

If you would like us to contact you, please visit the city’s web site:  www.montpelier-vt.org, scroll down to the bottom of the home page, and click on “Sign up now for Blackboard Connect.”  That will take you to a sign in page, where you will see a prompt that says “Sign me up!”  If you click on this link, the program will allow you to enter several phones or other ways to contact you, and to select which type of messages you would like to receive.

 

We will be sending out updates periodically if flooding or other storm related information is needed this weekend.  We will continue to use the Alerts list for now, but at some point it will be discontinued.  If you want to receive emergency information, please sign up for Blackboard Connect.
