Hello -

I want to invite you to participate in an exciting (and fun!) new project in the City of Montpelier.  The Planning Commission and the City Council are working to develop a long-range plan for the city, and are asking all of the people who live and work here to help us imagine what the city should be like 30 – 100 years from now.  The project is called envisionMontpelier, and we are having a kick off event this Saturday at the Farmer's Market – please stop by our booth.  We have several interesting activities planned.

To lead the project, we are recruiting a broad group of 'stakeholders,' which are people who have an interest in the city, either because they live here, or they work here, or they represent institutions located here.  We'd like you to consider joining the Stakeholder Group.  Being a member means agreeing to attend 1-2 meetings per month for the next 18 months to two years, and playing a role in designing and implementing an action plan for the city.

We will also be going out and meeting with groups who are interested in participating, so if you are a member of an organization, or own a business, or teach in a school, or have an event planned over the next couple years, please let us know so we can come and talk to you about the project.

As part of the project, we are making an important effort to recognize and include all of the activities and organizations that are currently involved in various projects around the city - we are not trying to reinvent any wheels, but rather to weave all of the different initiatives together as a coherent whole.  So if you have plans or projects you think should be recognized and discussed, please let me know.

Thanks for everything!

Cheers, Gwen.
