Hello and Happy New Year!
If you are interested in participating in a training offered by our Local Emergency Response Committee (LEPC) on being part of a community emergency response team, there is a training coming up on Saturday, January 21st, beginning at 8 am at the Barre Auditorium. It's a free training, and lunch will be provided - I understand it will be pizza.
The invitation is attached. It's important to RSVP to Julie Benedict (contact information below) as soon as possible, so she knows how much pizza to order (and, presumably, if you're allergic to anchovies).
Topics to be covered include disaster preparedness, traffic control, disaster medical operations, fire safety, triage and treating life threatening injuries.
Emergency preparedness was the main reason the city has organized the Capital Area Neighborhoods groups (CAN) and the Montpelier Alerts listserv. We need CAN leaders in a few neighborhoods, and we need
you if you are part of a smaller neighborhood association in your area. So please let us know if you're interested in participating in CAN. CAN meetings are the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 in the Police Community Room. To see a map of the CAN neighborhoods, click here:

Hope to see you there!
Cheers, Gwen.
