Results: There was a significant difference (P < 0.001) between days. The difference was limited to Sunday and accounted for 5% of the variance. ICC analyses indicated a minimum of 3 days is necessary to achieve a reliability of 0.80. The adjusted R(2) was 0.79 for a single day (specifically Wednesday), 0.89 for 2 days (Wednesday, Thursday), and 0.94 for 3 days (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday). Sunday was the last day to enter the model.
Conclusions: Although there is a statistical difference between days, there is little practical difference, and the primary distinction appears limited to Sunday. Although a single day of collection is not acceptable, any 3 days can provide a sufficient estimate.
Methods: A total of 381 students (189 M, 192 F) wore a CSA 7164 uniaxial accelerometer for seven consecutive days. To examine age-related trends students were grouped as follows: Group I: grades 1-3 (N = 92); Group II: grades 4-6 (N = 98); Group III: grades 7-9 (N = 97); Group IV: grades 10-12 (N = 94). Average daily time spent in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) was calculated from minute-by-minute activity counts using the regression equation developed by Freedson et al. (1997).
Results: Compared with adolescents in grades 7 to 12, children in grades 1 to 6 exhibited less day-to-day variability in MVPA behavior. Spearman-Brown analyses indicated that between 4 and 5 d of monitoring would be necessary to a achieve a reliability of 0.80 in children, and between 8 and 9 d of monitoring would be necessary to achieve a reliability of 0.80 in adolescents. Within all grade levels, the 7-d monitoring protocol produced acceptable estimates of daily participation in MVPA (R = 0.76 (0.71-0.81) to 0.87 (0.84-0.90)). Compared with weekdays, children exhibited significantly higher levels of MVPA on weekends, whereas adolescents exhibited significantly lower levels of MVPA on weekends. Principal components analysis revealed two distinct time components for MVPA during the day for children (early morning, rest of the day), and three distinct time components for MVPA during the day for adolescents (morning, afternoon, early evening).
Have heard and read a lot about Cinque Terre. You have given some valuable tips on planning a trip to the place. I guess when we plan a trip we would do it for 3 days so that we get a real feel and also explpre the villages in the vicinity. Of course the crowds are a dampener, but I guess we can get away from them at the outer villages.

I have a spreadsheet that includes a column with a date. It is vital that I know how many days have elapsed from each of those dates. So I want one column with the date and the next column telling me how many days have passed. It needs to recalculate that number every day. I could have anywhere between 25 and 150 dates.
I have a list that is anywhere between 25 and 100 items at any given time. When something is complete, I remove it from this sheet and put in a "closed" sheet for tracking purposes. After reaching the summit, it is hard to see how people attempt the Kilimanjaro climb in less than 8 days. We had some minor altitude issues in our group importantly, people had time to recover. The date command may not be giving the answer you want, but it is giving the correct answer to the question you asked. :) The %j gives Julian days, or the number of days from the beginning of the year. Jan 4 is the 4th day of the year.
The %s converts a date into the the number of seconds from Jan 1, 1970. Here I took the number of seconds now and subtract the number of seconds from your key date. Dividing by 3600 gets me the number of hours and then by 24 gets me the number of days. bc converts the math expression to a value. I believe this will be truncated, but you might want to experiment with this.
