Hello Everyone –

Hope you had a great summer! At the Community Service Project (CSP) we did, with planning for the upcoming projects, and gently nudging a few congregations to promote their fresh produce collections (thank you UUCA and ACOB!)

But Fall is here, and we are ready to begin our clothing drive for APAH ( that’s Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing).  This is a big project, with three parts:

Part I (Sept. 22 - Oct. 27)

Part II (Oct. 27)

Part III (Nov. 10)

Clothing Drive

Sorting Clothing

Setting up a “store” for APAH clients to shop among the donations at one of their locations.

Now this is very ambitious, that’s true, but if you consider that you are probably thinking about getting your fall and winter things ready soon, you might find there are donations among them, and if you have to go shopping to replace those things, why not buy one extra shirt, or pair of pants to donate too?  We hope to have new and gently-used donations for the APAH folks.

Please note that women’s and men’s BUSINESS CASUAL is what is needed (no suits please), and SCHOOL APPROPRIATE for kids through the 5th grade.

Attention church leaders: this is an ideal project to engage your youth group! APAH tells us that this project started with a youth group a few years ago and that they were so involved and so proud at their success.

So come together for this great big project, and let’s call all hands to the deck.  We’ll have a donation box set up from this Saturday, Sept. 22 – Oct. 27 (sorting day) at CSP HQ at the Brethren Church. It will be outside the main door at 300 N. Montague Street so you or your youth group may drop off your donations day or night.

As usual, call me if you have any questions or suggestions, ideas, or help. Visit our web page at: http://wp.me/P1I6gM-5W.

Contact the CSP at (703) 524-4100 or me at (703) 585-6114 (call or text).
