Just as an FYI, there is a very relevant hands-on course to familiarize people with the basics of green gardening:  http://www.green-gardener.org/

The Green Gardeners certification course is low-cost and apparently can be attended on a class-by-class basis if needed (although you wouldn't qualify for certification and probably would still pay the full class fee, which is $100).  There are classes currently being offered in Watsonville and Salinas (http://www.green-gardener.org/GreenGardenerAdultSchoolClasses.htm) and a more advanced course is coming in April thru June.  The course is similar to the Ocean Friendly Gardens class series they have going down in Southern California and would certainly be relevant to our garden effort.

The courses start in the next week, so keep that in mind.

Cheers,
Sarah
