What: I had a vote for Markdown and two votes for git, so it seems like I’ll be talking about “Workflow with git“. Admittedly, this is not R-specific, but integration with Rstudio makes the entry-effort a little easier. I’ll discuss some of the basic concepts of version control (e.g., commit, diff, branch, fork) and basic workflow from starting a new repo to doing some remote work (think collaboration, Github, etc). There are more discussion points about git in regards to deployment considerations, but that may be too much for this first discussion (and often not important to many in academia).
Where: TBD Active Decision Support, 380 Foam Street, Suite 210, Monterey. There is some parking in the parking lot, but plan on parking on Foam or Drake (metered parking). See the next post for directions.
