I would like to start a discussion on topics to share with the Mayor
during his visit.

One of my concerns is the speeding of vehicles down Monte D'Oro Drive
b/c our younger population is growing and becoming more mobile and
many vehicles travel down Monte D'Oro Dr at a fast pace (faster than
the speed limit). How can we resolve this problem?

Eric,
I agree. One neighbor Linda Faviet feels very strongly about the speed
and amount of traffic on Monte D'Oro Drive and said so at a HPD
Neighborhood Watch meeting a couple of months ago. I too am concerned
because cars come down the hill onto Dundale and often don't stop and
we now have 8 children under 10 yrs old in the Dundale cul d sac. Beth
hopes to address it with the mayor but we need to all back her up.
We also need to make the meeting with him be an issue based meeting
and not a "state of the city" report.
Another concern is graffiti in Georgetown Park and lack of lighting
and patrols there. Another concern is crime in the 2 apt complexes
closest to us.

High speed is ridiculous on Monte D'Oro. We will definitely want to
address this with the mayor. Eileen, I'm wondering if we should let
the mayor know we are not interested in "state of the city" speech?
Perhaps Susan can mention this when she follows up with the mayors
office to remind him of the meeting.
In regards to the traffic through the neighborhood....I'm working on
that letter now. I was going to wait and give it to the mayor when we
planted a tree in his honor but I don't think it can wait that long.
My plan is to finish the letter so that I can share it at next weeks
meeting.
Reminder: next week is "open forum" so we can discuss in more detail
our plans for February meeting. Hope we have a big turnout.

Beth and All,
I think Susan should send an e-mail to DEnise as well as call her, and
give her the list of topics we want to discuss.
I saw in the paper where he met with a group of Preserve neighbors
about possible drugs and hanging out at Moss Rock Preserve and he has
stepped up police patrol.
If traffic and speed are our major issues- I think we need to be ready
to tell the mayor just what we want(Speed breakers, stepped up patrol,
signs?). Two good neighbors to get involved are Dan Ireland and Linda
Faviet.

Has anyone considered speed "humps"? I also remember someone mentioning closing the entrance down by the park so that people won't consider our neighborhood a "short cut". I am willing to consider both options. I would feel more comfortable knowing that our neighbors are the only ones driving through our neighborhood.

I will try to make it to some of the up coming meetings,

Connie :)

Connie,

I know you and I have talked about this before, and I mentioned that I
was going to get some stuff together (which I have not...sorry) so
that we can present multiple ideas for the city to control speeding
through our neighborhood. Some of the options we thought of were
speed humps, closing the entrance by the park, increase police
coverage, neighborhood speed trap days, and stop signs at all cross
streets. I believe if we can present a group of options to the city
with both positive and negative aspects covered, then they might be
more willing to work with us on completing some of them.
