Hi all,
Thanks for participating in the neighborhood meeting this Sunday,
December 2 at 10 a.m. at the corner. At the meeting we discussed a
number of options to suggest to AT&T toward mitigating the undesirable
look of the utility box and impacts of AT&T maintenance vans/trucks in
the future.
Ideas include the following:
1. Suggest physical screening such as a wood fence similar to the one
enclosing the property at 6950 Broadway Terrace so that it "matches"
what is there. A chain link fence is not acceptable.
2. Suggest painting the box to match the surroundings or have some
sort of art on it. (This would be intended to deter vandalism.)
3. If a wood fence is not accepted, suggest foliage such as a hedge
that could serve as a screen.
4. Request that whatever is placed at 6950 Broadway Terrace on
Mountain not block the gate located in the same vicinity, and which is
intended as an emergency and safe exit from the property.
4. Request foliage for the existing utility box located in front of
1101 and 1109 Mountain Blvd.
5. Request that AT&T maintenance vans/trucks respect the surroundings,
clean up debris (wire clippings and garbage) when working in the area.
6. Question the precise location of the box - since the spray paint
apparently identifying the proposed location is slightly different
from the photograph sent with the notice. Also advise AT&T that corner
is prone to cars failing to stop at the stop sign and speeding, which
could be a hazard for the AT&T maintenance vans/trucks.
On Tuesday, I intend to speak with Barbara Lesley, AT&T External
Affairs Liaison, who contacted me after I spoke with Michael Edwards,
AT&T Project Manager/Engineer. I will convey these suggestions and
report back with the response.
