The link above is to a quite amazing essay by Roger Scruton that gets
to the heart, I think, of the work we were doing together.

The main online gathering of people doing this sort of thinking is
Front Porch Republic. http://www.frontporchrepublic.com/

I hope all is going well out there. It would be nice to have an actual
(rather than merely a cyber) place to talk about such things.

Hi Mike,

I just opened this but haven't read the link.  You're point of having a place to converse is right on.  I think we should resurect the MHP in name only and plan a winter summit in Helena for two days.  Our administrators would never know as they're too busy filling out paperwork to show how we're being 21st century schools.  I've thought about you often and wish we could get together to visit.  Don't you wonder how Tim and Roundup are doing with the big new mine going?  Have you heard Mary S. is a finalist for Teacher of the Year?

Myself, I've finally decided I can call my house finished.  I mowed grass and harvested a garden this year.  So, I need to go back and complete my unfinished book.  By this time next year it will be done if I can learn to use indesign and get the loyout complete.  I see you have a new book coming out - what's the status on it?

Hope your year is going well.  I'm having a great year and enjoying the kids.  it's only taken 20 eyars to feel like I'm not surprised anymore what they throw my way - kids that is.  My principal, well, that's another story.

Nice to hear from you.  Now I'll go back and read that link.

Best,

Jeff

I'd like to meet.

My administrators can't spell 21st.

My year is going so well they made a movie of it:

The kids are sort of stunningly lovely people. I wish often I could
connect them to something bigger than the school.

We’d be happy to provide use of the auditorium and I can have the coffee pot going.
