On the ongoing comedy of the school reform movement: the Stanford Ed Profs start their own school using the latest in progressive pedagogy, technology, and extra money? What happens? Among the worst test scores in the state. So the profs blame the kids though other schools with similar demographics do much better.

Jacobs ends her column wondering whether the profs will learn from their experience. But we have enough history to know the answer.

No. Ideologues don't learn much from history. They need the abstractions that organize their conceptual universe. No mere fact can change that.
