Hi Folks,
Attached is an agenda for our Partnership meeting next Monday, Feb 9, from 11-3 in Kalispell. We have much to discuss and little time! In fact, I am providing lunch through FWP so we will not need to take a long break to keep blood sugar levels within acceptable ranges.
In addition to an integrated monitoring program, there is an opportunity to partner with US Fish and Wildlife Service on a colonial nesting waterbird inventory. The attached document attempts to summarize some options for collaborating with USFWS while simultaneously addressing Montana’s specific needs. Thanks to Allison Puchniak, Kristi DuBois, Dwight Bergeron, Jim Hansen, Amy Cilimburg, and Dan Casey for providing comments and feedback. Stephanie Jones, USFWS, will present the program at our meeting. I hope to have a map of colony locations in our database as a starting point but please bring your local knowledge.
Jock is currently posting on the MBCP web site the coordinated bird monitoring plan from 2006, the associated Appendix that includes a list of wetlands in the state, Dan Casey’s 2004 wetlands monitoring plan, and other papers of interest. Please go to http://avianscience.dbs.umt.edu/MBCP.htm
See you in Kalispell!
