Hi, all,

Well, I don't know about you all, but Rob and I were just floored by all the amazing work on Monstrous Weather -- and as you can tell from this email list (and the monstrous weather in the world), the rain doesn't have to ever stop.  So if you missed out or were too busy, feel free to post something whenever.

Book: Rob and I have been talking about all the wonderful weather stories so far and think the world would like to see them.  I've started working on a loose Twine adaptation, but we think this could make a terrific book.

Does anyone have any ideas of publishers or presses that might be a good fit for a Monstrous Weather imprint?  Anyone interested in helping with that adaptation?

Of course, we'd like to invite you all to dream up other adaptations for the second and third and fourth lives of Monstrous Weather!

Thanks for playing!

Best,
Mark and Rob

Okay, gang,

Sounds like we have some great options.  Let's keep the ball rolling!

Remember, there's no reason not to keep posting new tales, so if you feel like you missed out -- fix that by missing in! -- or joining in! Just post something.

Re: Publication?
Who wants to be on which side of the adaptation?

Twine
Mark, Joellyn? Anyone else?

Books:
Scott? Talan? Rob?
Possible Publishers:   Free Dogma Press, New Binary?

Also, this is in no way a definitive list of adaptation, remix, or publication opportunities.  We're all co-owners of this material, so treat it like your compost/ color palette/ vid bank/ etc.

Readings: Live or Online?
We'd like to schedule some performances of this.  When should we do this?  Might I propose some Friday 9am PST/12pm EST/ ?? Norway?

Best,
Mark and Rob

What if we published it on an umbrella?

Not sure how far I'll take it, but I'm playing around with doing something using the "thematic" version of HypeDyn that I presented at ELO 2016. Once there's a decent work-in-progress I'll share it here. :)

Dear Cloud Farmers,

In addition to Alex's excellent ELO Porto proposal — which I really hope we get, thanks again Alex, Andrew, Mark, and all! — I’ve also been musing more about the notion of longer live readings in the format of “An Evening of Monstrous Weather,” featuring authors and others.

I think the anthology format of the ELO conferences, which is great for discovering lots of new work, would have been a bit restrictive for MW and that there’s a kind of cumulative effect possible for us if we can get a bunch of us to start reading some of the threaded, call-and-response, sequences for an hour or so.

Plus, I just wanna see Rettberg throw down some prescient Thor!

It gets me thinking about assembling as many Cloud Farmers as we can in Porto for our own amusement and doing an informal, after-hours or cocktail-hour reading in a coffee shop, bar or hotel room… and videoing it.

No reason why it can’t be a world tour — any time a few Cloud Farmers find ourselves together, let’s find a venue and remix up a live reading!

Looking out at a frighteningly warm Solstice in the Northland,

Rob

I'm up for anything.

Rob would you submit that as a separate proposal?

Although I suspect Scott would have me play my likeness.

Mark

Yeah I'd be up for that as well, formally or informally... :)

Hi, all,

Did/Can anyone submit the reading/performance proposal for the festival?

I've already submitted 2 things, so I'm worried I'd be shut out.

We probably have about 6 more hours. I'll buy a beer for anyone who does it.

Best,
Mark

I certainly want to throw in my support for the informal/formal cocktail reading. I don't know Porto at all, but this is a great idea. Thanks Rob.

Now that ELO Porto is almost upon us, just wondering if anyone is still up for this? :)

I’m up for it!

Let’s start looking for a time in the busy schedule and a possible place.

It might be fun for those interested to print out a paper version of couple of your own pieces and a couple of your favorites, so that we could do an analog event in some coffee shop / bar or other.

Sounds good. Haven't quite got my head around the conference schedule or locations yet, but we can probably sit around and tell stories somewhere, whether or not we have internet...

Hi, all!

The time we're looking at for a Monstrous Reading is lunch time, 12:30, on Friday July 21.

By then we'll know the layout of the University; we'll identify a convenient University location later on in the week and post it here!

Bring food, bring friends, bring text, bring voice!

Anybody want to livestream/archive the event?

Looking forward to it!

Mes Chers,

The plan today is simply to form a small circle of chairs on the outdoor patio adjacent to the lunch room and read some Monstrous Weather aloud for our own delight and that of anyone else who cares to listen.

See you there!

Rob
