Community WiFi Wednesday 6-8pm @ Monroe Elementary

Hi Neighbors,

I'm going to be hosting biweekly meet ups at Monroe Elementary with the goal of helping our community became better interconnected and tech savvy.  The first hour will be for general computer help.  The second hour will be for discussion of technical topics.  Read on for more details.

The Monroe Elementary school has the best WiFi for miles around. We'll meet in the library. It's a little awkward there because its designed for elementary school kids and is thus quite small, but it's a free venue.

The format of this meetup will be split into two sessions:

6-7pm - Tech Help & General Computer Issues

Many people in our community need help with questions on connecting to wifi networks, using email, diagnosing problems, or using photo editing software. Part of the mission of our group is to be helpful to the wider community and for that purpose we will do our best to help you with any questions or issues you might have for this hour.

7-8pm - Technical Topics - Robotics, Programming, Linux, Raspberry Pi, Android

During this hour we will delve into one or more of the several themes that have been popular in the group. These will be topics that require a desire to learn new things.

Hi Garrett,

Although I was not able to attend this week, I think your Community WiFi meetings are a wonderful idea.  You are providing a great service for Monroe.  Perhaps you could hold subsequent meetings in a nearby classroom or the lunch room?  It might be roomier there.  I do hope to come to future meetings, even though my elderly laptop won't work there.  Please keep me on your mailing list.

Hi Paul,

We had a great meeting last night.  We meet one of our neighbors who has a specialty in modern morse code communication.  How cool is that?

We will definitely keep this going on a biweekly basis.  See you Wednesday after next.

I will ask about meeting at an adult sized table :)  That would be nice.
