[OVERVIEW] Mega Gardevoir is a pokemon that can fit perfectly on a psychic team. It dual psychic fairy typing give it a neutral typing to dark types which is key when vs a disadvantage and a nice dragon immunity. It has an extremely spammable stab in hyper voice doing doing massive damage to even resisted pokemon due to its ability pixilate along with a mammoth 165 Spa. It also solid special bulk stomaching many weak special attacks and blowing its opponents back. It has awful defense and only average speed at base 100 but serves as a wonderful wallbreaker in the monotype metagame similar to ou. Generalize what the Pokemon does in the metagame and as a whole and why you should or shouldn't consider using it on your teams.
[SET COMMENTS] Moves I call this set So Kaiser because it blows back all teams as kaiser does oh so well. Hyper voice is the main stab extremely spammable hitting anything that isnt a steel type extremely hard. Psyshock is its second stab most notably hits Chansey and poison types which Gardevoir would otherwise be walled by. Focus Blast hits all steel types like ferrothorn and heatran hard doing about 70%+ to both. Will o wisp is to hit jirachi, metagross and Mega Scizor on the switch. Taunt is to disable slow or balanced monotype teams like other psychic teams, water, normal, flying and grass. Preventing them to heal or defog rocks. It serves as a wonderful wallbreaking set in this monotype metagame.
Describe what the moves on the set do.
Set Details ======== Trace is the preferred ability before Mega Evolution, as it makes
Gardevoir capable of turning a foe's ability against them. Some example
of this include countering specially defensive Heatran with Taunt,
stealing Regenerator from Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Slowbro,
utilizing Magic Bounce from Mega Sableye to reflectWill-O-Wisp, taking
advantage of Manectric's Lightning Rod and Thundurus-ts volt absorb, Intimidating Landorus-T and
Gyarados, and trapping Magnezone locked into a Hidden Power.
Additionally, Trace lets Gardevoir revenge kill weakened Dragonite with
the aid of Multiscale, revenge kill weather sweepers such as Modest
Kingdra and Adamant Excadrill if it is using a Timid nature, and
Synchronize burn Mew as well in case you lack another Pokemon to absorb a
burn from it. 24 EVs in Defense let Gardevoir avoid the 2HKO from Life
Orb Latios's Psyshock. The rest of the EVs are put into Speed, to make
Gardevoir capable of outspeeding all defensive Pokemon and some slower
offensive ones, such as Breloom and Tyranitar, and into Special Attack,
to make Gardevoir hit very hard. A Timid nature improves Gardevoir's
matchup against offensive teams by allowing it to outspeed Pokemon such
as Jolly Excadrill, Pinsir on the turn it Mega Evolves, Jolly
Landorus-T, and Timid Heatran. It also makes Gardevoir faster than Jolly
Breloom and Jolly Bisharp on the turn it Mega Evolves, meaning
Gardevoir can burn them with Will-O-Wisp before they can attack it, and
makes Gardevoir capable of revenge killing most weather sweepers, as
they usually do not run Speed-boosting natures. A Modest nature is,
however, definitely viable if you would prefer the extra power instead.Describe the other aspects of the set such as what the EVs do and nature/item.
Usage Tips This set is used destroy balanced monotype teams mentioned before using hyper voice and psyshock to spam on unresisted pokemon and Focus Blast to hit steel types. Unfortunately Focus is unreliable so just be aware of that. Teamed with taunt it prevents slower passive Pokemon from healing. Gardevoir isnt bad vs offensive teams either as most teams dont have great switch ins for it. Gardevoir is usually dead weight vs steel although u can use taunt to prevent rocks from getting up using focus blast to get at least one killa dn can switch into heatran tracing flash fire.Keep it away from physical attackers like landorous-t, hawlucha azumarill and Terrekion. In Offensive games try to mega evolve gardevoir early so that you can take advantage of the speed boost especially vs fighting and dragon.
Team Options The best team options for Mega Gardevoir are fire types like Victini to blow though all the steel types that Mega Gardevoir hates and check Mega-Scizor which is one of Gardevoirs only real switch ins. Its also extremely weak on the physical defensive side so something to stomach Physical fire attacks and priority attacks and try and spread burns like Slowbro and Mew are extremely helpful.Jirachi is also
helpful with Forming a Fire Fairy Steel core. Each helping take down
each others checks. Jirachi helps vs slow teams also aiding Gardevoir.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS] Other Options Shadow Ball hits Jirachi, Bronzong, Victini, and Mega Metagross, which
would otherwise counter or check Gardevoir, super effectively. Future
Sight works very well with a strong physical attacker as your opponent
may have nothing to take a strong physical attack and a strong Future
Sight simultaneously, usually leading to a Pokemon getting sacked if you
play correctly. Destiny Bond can get rid of threats such as Mega
Metagross, Ferrothorn, Bisharp, Manaphy, and a boosted Clefable in a
pinch. Hidden Power Fire lures in Mega Scizor and almost OHKOes it on
the switch, but leaves Gardevoir walled by Heatran. Hidden Power Ground is also a great lure for Heatran but then you are left completely walled by Ferrothorn.
Checks and Counters Physical Steel types. Choice scarf magnezone, Choice Scarf Excadrill, Mega Scizor and Choice Scarf Jirachi will all force Gardevoir out. Physical Attackers: Weavile, Azumarill, Crawduant, Choice scarf Landorus-t and Terrekion all force it out. Between there powerful Stab and access to Priority. Fast Physical Fire types. Fire types that outspeed Garvevoir easily force it out threatening to OHko it. Examples of these are Victini and Darmanitan Poison Types: Fast poison types are uncommon but they are still a threat. Scolipede, Gengar and Mega Beedrill are all huge threats to Gardevoir.
