Hi,

This project has not been updated since November 2008. It seems such a
waste to let this project die and I would like to contribute to this
project. Could I be added to the list so that I have read/write access
to the SVN repository?

This is a good idea; Send your first patch, and I'll add you (this is the same policy we use for Mono).
