Heyya & afternoon there Jim:
There is a good deal of frivilus information in this thing. However, there is a welth of good information as well. No doubt for those of us who are totals. Using the PSREdit is still the easiest method of dealing with the 500.
I'm posting the link. However, it currently isn't working for one reason or another. I'm guessing the site is having issues. It worked a day or 2 ago. So, I'm relatively certain it hasn't been taken down or anything like that. I'll check it back in an hour or so.

The link to the Easier to Read Manual is once again working for those who need it.

Heyya there Jim:
The link I sent is a direct link to the manual. The PSR-500 & the Pro-106
are the handheld radios. The Pro's are made for Radio Shack by GRE. The 500
& 106 are only cosmetically different. The 500 has its speaker at the top &
its key pad at the bottom. As you know. The 106 has its keypad @ the top &
its speaker towards the bottom of the radio. The 600 & 197 are the same
radio. Both of which are the desktop/ mobile units. All 4 of the radios are
operationally the same so the manual works for all of them. The differences
for the handhelds & desktops are pointed out in the manual.

Greetings fellow scanner people!

I was going through the “Used Equipment” page on the R&L Electronics site and saw a PSR-500 and a PSR-600 radio for sale. I have no idea of their condition, etc. I think the prices might be pretty good, though and if anyone is interested, I’ve included the links and the item info below. The PSR-500 is the handheld scanner that Sean, Jim and I use successfully. The PSR-600 is the mobile/base version of this same scanner and should be just as useable. It definitely works with the PSREdit software.
