I am having an issue setting up any automation agents for my centos cluster.

It appear that I have installed the ops manager correctly, then i go to install an agent on a node using the config provided by the ops manager gui but when i run mongodb-mms-automation-agent start it says that it's starting but nothing seems to start.

how can i go about debugging this? i'm not finding any errors...

Hi Mark,
I'm not sure from your question if you are attempting to use automation against the Ops Manager hosts - that should not be done. That is, it's not possible to use automation to automate Ops Manager itself. If you successfully started Ops Manager and are able to view your installation via URL, you'll find automation related errors in the agent logs. These can also typically be found in /var/log/mongodb-mms-automation/*

Hey Rachelle,

Sorry if this was confusing... still wrapping my head around the ops manager deployments.

I installed the ops manager on node A. I am trying to install and start the agent on node B but when I start the agent service, nothing seems to happen. Note: I used the commands generated by the ops manager exactly. That being said, i checked out the log your mentioned and below is the only entry.

opt/mongodb-mms-automation/bin/mongodb-mms-automation-agent: error while loading shared libraries: libsasl2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Having followed the directions per the Ops Manager and yet it errors out is disappointing. Especially since this is part of the premium side of MongoDB.

The "libsasl2.so.3" library is used in RHEL/CentOS 7.x. Therefore, I believe that you have downloaded the RHEL/CentOS 7.X version of the Cloud Manager Automation Agent.

Can you please confirm that you are trying to run this on a RHEL/CentOS 7.X host? If the host is an earlier version of RHEL/CentOS (i.e. 5.X or 6.X), then you will need to download the corresponding version of the agent, and use that instead.

Can you please confirm that this host is using x86_64? You can confirm this by running "uname -a". Note that only 64-bit (i.e. x86_64) hosts and distributions are supported by Cloud Manager Automation — 32-bit (i.e. i686) is not supported.

Also, you will need the "cyrus-sasl-lib-2.1.26-17.el7.x86_64" package is installed on the system as well.

Hi Rachelle,

I am also facing similar issue in agent installation.

And installation of cyrus-sasl-lib-2.1.26-17.el7.x86_64 also did not help to resolve this issue.

Please reply back if you have any suggestion.

Regards,
Hrushikesh

Hi Hrushikesh,

For assistance with installing Ops Manager please have a look at our Ops Manager documentation.

Please note that Ops Manager is licensed as part of a commercial support subscription. I would suggest raising a CS issue (if you are a current customer) or contacting your MongoDB Account Executive if you are evaluating. If you’d like me to put you in touch with an Account Executive please contact me off list.

Regards
Markus
