Hi,

I got struck while installing MongoDB in CentOS. I refereed the below links for installations.

Operating system:

CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1511.iso

using VMWare to launch iso.

Steps I did:

Method1:

1)Create a /etc/yum.repos.d/mongodb-org-3.2.repo
2)sudo yum install -y mongodb-org

Error:Could not resolve host:mirrorlist.centos.org; Unknown error

Method2:

1)Create a /etc/yum.repos.d/mongodb.repo
2)yum install mongo-10gen mongo-10gen-server --exclude mongodb-org,mongodb-org-server

Error:Could not resolve host:mirrorlist.centos.org; Unknown error

It seems it is not MongoDB issue but it would be helpful if you can provide me solution to move forward. I did not find any solution in google. Thanks.

Hi Mahesh,

Could you post the content of the repo file:

/etc/yum.repos.d/mongodb-org-3.2.repo

I noticed that you have referred to MongoDB v2.4 manual as well. As you are trying to install v3.2, please see the manual for MongoDB v3.2: Configure the package management system (yum)

Also please confirm that you have an internet connection from your VMware CentOS machine. For example:

ping -t 10 mirrorlist.centos.org

Ankur

Hi Ankur,
Thank you. I just tried ping but it says unknown host. it seems internet connection problem.

can you please tell me how to give internet connection to  VMware CentOS machine. I have running this VMware in my windows desktop.

/etc/yum.repos.d/mongodb-org-3.2.repo  file contains,

[mongodb-org-3.2]
name=MongoDB Repository
baseurl=https://repo.mongodb.org/yum/redhat/$releasever/mongodb-org/3.2/x86_64/
gpgcheck=0
enabled=1

and I am running this command for instalations. sudo yum install -y mongodb-org

Please let me know if I am doing wrong. Thank you.

Hi Mahesh,

Your VMware CentOS machine is unable to access internet, you might need to configure your network connection on VMware settings. As this issue is not really related to MongoDB itself, you may get a faster response and wider audience by posting on ServerFault, SuperUser or VMWare community forum

You may find below link useful to resolve your internet connectivity issue:
