Hello Mongo,

I am in a bit mess in my project. I have few queries to ask. Before i actually i start asking, i want to know the most important thing.

"Can MongoDB handle billion/trillion of records?"

if the answer is yes then please answer me the below queries.

  • How can I achieve fast SORT performance with billion of records? (I am really concerned about this Sorting functionality in my project)
  • How do I get the fast pagination for my grid with billion of records? (I am again really concerned about this pagination functionality as i am getting very poor performance using Skip())

Please help me in solving the above mentioned issues. Please answer me in detail about some best approaches to handle the above issues.

Regards,
Rohit Khurana

Bit of a broad question but...

"Can MongoDB handle billion/trillion of records?" - Yes... sharding https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/sharding/
How can I achieve fast SORT performance with billion of records?  - Plenty of RAM, Indexes - https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/tutorial/sort-results-with-indexes/
How do I get the fast pagination for my grid with billion of records?  - Don't use skip. Performance will be poor. An alternative approach is described here - https://sammaye.wordpress.com/2012/05/25/mongodb-paging-using-ranged-queries-avoiding-skip/
