We've changed the settings so that new members have to get their
messages approved before they're sent to the list. It will probably
will cause some delays, which is annoying, but it should eliminate the
spam.

Instead can you verify and accept the membership? It is really more
burden for admin/moderator to review and accept the messages. Since
user base is small, I think its fine.

Is it only for new members? I have posted around 6 to 8 posts so
hopefully my queries won't be put on queue :-)

i think it is for new members only, verification of first post. so
should be roughly equiv to accepting membership. we'll see. if any
is a google groups expert and knows more feel free to chime in.

What you guys are doing is probably the best. I ran into the same
thing with a group I manage.

This is what we do on the turbogears list. And it has worked out well for us.

I think it's the only realistic option once you havemore than a few
hundred people on the list.
