May I know the steps-by-steps guideline for migrating the database to Atlas? I already have the cluster and I managed to make new local database. But it is not the same as the current database in Digital Ocean; it is likely creating a new database.

  • Is there any suggested GUI that is easy to use for migrating, instead of using command line tools?
  • What kind of json format is needed?
  • Do I have to set up any environment in AWS in order to connect?
I do have the .pem and .ppk files. Is there any else that is required to have?

Please consider to help because I have zero knowledge on MongoDB aka newbie. :D

Hi,

You can try the steps listed on Migrating a self-managed MongoDB replica set on AWS to MongoDB Atlas. Although there may be a number of differences in AWS vs Digital Ocean as the source data, the steps relating to Atlas Live Migration Service may be useful. See also Live Migrate Your Replica Set to Atlas.

If you have further questions relating to migrating to Atlas, please open a private MongoDB Atlas support ticket. You can find Support link on the left hand side bar of Atlas UI once you logged in.

Regards,

Wan.
