Hey all,

For this question, I'm posting in two different places: here, and on a support community for Electron. I will share a link to the other post once I have written it, as I'm doing this one first.

I'm researching what's involved in bundling a MongoDB server with an Electron-based desktop app. The idea is that the server would be private to the application, neither requiring the user to have previously installed MongoDB, nor using or interfering with any MongoDB installation that the user has already installed.

Without talking about MongoDB specifically, are there any general approaches for embedding and using 3rd-party binaries in an electron app? For example, suppose I wanted to bundle up ImageMagick, or Graphvis. Assume I only care about *nix OSes.

Thank you very much for your help,
Dan

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for reaching out! I'm very happy to say that we do now have some relevant news and product information to share! 🙂

We just announced MongoDB Mobile at our annual MongoDB World event last week! You can now watch the keynote on demand, which includes the announcement and a demo. You can also see the slides from my talk on MongoDB Mobile at the event.

I've setup a #mongodbmobile channel on the MongoDB Community Slack and created a MongoDB Mobile google group for open discussions.

I would love to discuss further details with you! Feel free to respond here, via the other noted community avenues, or simply reach out to me directly. I think that MongoDB Mobile could be an ideal fit for your use case!

Best Regards,

Matt Lord
